Historic Buildings - More Information
Our Objectives
- To visit buildings within a reasonable distance in the region
- Where possible, to have an expert on the building give us salient information about the building and its history
- To have a discussion afterwards, at a suitable venue where we can take refreshments, the visits we go on
- To get to know each other, over time, and to enjoy each other's company!
Meeting Frequency
The Historic Buildings group is fully active, about 30 members and an average attendance of about 15 per visit.
There are monthly visits on the third Tuesday of the month to local buildings of historic or architectural interest with a discussion over refreshments afterwards.
About Our Visits…
This year's visits have been to churches in Chalfont St Giles and Fulmer, and also to Amersham Museum and to Jordan's Meeting House.
On all of our group's visits so far has benefited from presentations from an expert guide.
The forward programme includes a guided tour of Old Amersham with an emphasis on contrasting design styles over the years.
Members of the group are asked to contribute to ideas on where we should go at future meetings.
Group Size
We have not yet set a limit on the numbers who can join the group. If we find that visits are getting 'overcrowded' then we will probably split the group at that point. The convenors currently feel that visits should not be attended by more than twenty members, but this is a fluid number and we will play it by ear.
