Excursions & Outings – Waddeston Manor Christmas Trip

We keep a record of previous trips so that new members can see where we've been in the past.

Eventually we will build an archive of our past trips in a different folder, but for now, we are keeping the Booking Page to act as an archive.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY AND BOOK THIS TRIP! (It's now, agh… 'history'!)

This trip took place on Wednesday 7th December 2016.

We keep an arhive of our previous excursions to enable our newer members to get an idea of what trips we've organised in the past.

Waddesdon Manor is managed by the National Trust and a popular attraction.

Christmas is always a special time at Waddesdon and 2016 is no exception -  so join us for a very special Christmas celebration at Waddesdon Manor.

We have booked timed tickets to view the selected decorated rooms in the Manor – this year’s theme ‘Magical Materials from the Earth and Sea’ is inspired by rare and exotic materials to be seen throughout the Waddesdon collections.

In the Stables extraordinary bakers ‘The Biscuiteers’ will be displaying their own miniature creations of Waddesdon Manor. As dusk falls The ‘Programme of Winter Light’ by internationally recognised artist Bruce Munro is a wonderous display of 9,000 slender stems covered with radiant frosted glass spheres. The ‘Son et Lumiere’ will bathe the Manor in a radiant coloured light show every 15 minutes and the giant candlestick sculptures featuring 574 wine bottles will also be illuminated.

The Christmas Fair outside on the parterre will feature 60 different stalls and  offer visitors a great selection of Christmas gifts and festive foods from around the country.

All this followed by a special (or splendid)  High Tea taken together in the Manor Restaurant with an array of savoury treats and dainty desserts,  a glass of prosecco and choice teas – rounded off in the festive spirit with a glass of mulled wine.   Not to be missed!
