Cricket - Mixed Walking News
Update - April 2023
I recently arranged a visit for the group to Lords Cricket ground for a tour which was excellent. We had an excellent guide and visited the museum, the famous Long Room, home, and visitors’ changing rooms and The Media Centre. It was very busy with guided tours and the BBC were getting ready to do some filming in advance of the Ashes Series this summer. We then went next door to The Lords tavern where we enjoyed a very good lunch. We hope to visit Lords again when England Women play The Australians in a T20 match in July. From the beginning of May we hope to be able to use Chalfont St Peter Cricket Club for our weekly get together, it has an artificial wicket surface which should help us all improve. We will also have use of the cricket nets.
Update - October 2022
We are having our Taster Session on Tuesday, November 1st from 10-11 at Chalfonts Leisure Centre with a coach from Bucks cricket and I have had plenty of interest in joining. It will then continue weekly. The cost will depend on the number attending. Eileen Powell is the contact Mixedwalkingcricket@
Update - September 2022
Hello to all members. You may not have thought of trying out walking cricket but a group of us have been enjoying playing outdoors this summer at Gerrards Cross Cricket Club. This is not hard ball cricket so no helmets or cricket pads just a soft ball and plastic bat! I have arranged a Taster Session for Tuesday November 1st indoors at Chalfonts Leisure Centre from 10-11. Our group will then be continuing weekly through till 13th December and dates for the New Year will then be arranged. There will be a small charge as we have to pay hall hire but think what you will be gaining!! Hope to hear from you. Best wishes Eileen ( convenor)

We have had a great summer practising our skills at the Gerrards Cross Cricket Club and in October we hope to continue indoors at the Chalfonts Leisure Centre. I am in touch with Emma from Bucks cricket who is very happy to be involved once again with coaching. I will be offering a Taster Session for anyone who would like to give it a go so please contact me if interested in joining us. Once dates are available I will contact members.

Update - 15th March 2022
Hello members,
Our indoor mixed walking cricket is going very well and after 2 coaching sessions, we are already seeing improvements! If there are still some of you out there who might like to give it a go we run the session from 10-11 am on Tuesdays at Chalfonts Leisure Centre for the next 6 weeks. Perhaps try a taster session to see if it is for you. Look forward to hearing from you.

Update - February 2022
I am very pleased to be able to let you know that following discussion with Bucks Club Network Manager Emma Boswell-Harris we are going to be offering a taster session soon at Chalfonts Leisure Centre for all cricket enthusiasts who perhaps can’t run or play in the same way they used to and for complete beginners to the game! We will be playing with a plastic bat and a softer ball, so no pads or helmets are required! We are proposing offering an 8-week coaching session indoors in March/April then when summer arrives, we hope to find a local cricket club where we can play outdoors. What could be better? -Tea and cakes obviously! Dates and times of the sessions and costing will be published once fixed but Tuesday mornings appear to be most convenient at the moment. Let me know if you are interested.
