A circular walk in Denham Country Park
Thursday 13th May 2021
Our next walk will be a circular walk in Denham Country Park, led by Mavis and Andy. on Thursday, 13th May, meeting at 10.30 am at St Mary’s Church in the centre of Denham village, UB9 5BH. Park on the roadside near the church and Green Man pub. We will still need to observe Public Health Covid guidance and may still have to split into groups of 6.
As we look forward to getting back to ‘normal’ it seems a good time to remind everyone of the Strollers’ code.
As Strollers, we aim to walk for up to 2.5 miles at a leisurely pace, on the level, without any significant hills. We rely on members to propose and lead walks and we are very grateful to those who have kept us moving with delightful walks so far, whilst welcoming new proposals. In doing so, they also obviously have a say in determining the day it takes place. People have commitments at different times, so we do not have a fixed day. I realise there have been several Thursdays recently and apologise if it is a difficult day for you, but I will try to make sure our next walk is on a different day.
I have been hoping to do a Bluebell walk but so far have not managed to find one that fulfils the criteria. Proposals would be very welcome.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Val Hadfield (Convenor)

A canal walk from the Coy Carp at Harefield.
Thursday 15th August 2019
The first Stroll was a simple canal walk in perfect conditions on 15 August from the Coy Carp at Harefield. 18 members took part, and the discussion afterwards produced several ideas about the way forward.
Members will propose, plan and lead the walk which will take place either monthly or possibly 2-weekly, varying the day of the week. A simple Walk Proposal Form has been circulated to enable a quick summary of all the required details. The priorities are to find walks which are flat and to walk at a comfortable pace, compatible with ‘strolling’. The majority are less concerned about the distance, but walks will be between 2 and 4 miles Two further Strolls took place in Denham and then the Misbourne Valley between Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles. It is hoped to build up a programme of walks to enable more advanced planning, but in the first place, members will suggest and plan the next walk each time.
The next Stroll will be on 7th October 2019.
