Arranged marriage and how it works
Amji Abinashi gave us an excellent insight into Indian Culture in May last year. Following requests to hear from him again, he will show us the history, conventions and procedures involved in arranged marriages. We’ll learn about some of the pros and cons of this tradition too!

Colin Wade talks about his career as an author, his influences and writing motivations. Colin explains some of the things that he was not expecting when it came to publishing and selling his books (the peril bit!).

Dr. Jim Ellis will give us a fascinating talk about our memory, how it adapts, and the effects of ageing:

Peter Cox will give us an illustrated talk on this unique mutual organisation. It’s “Never Knowingly
Undersold” pledge, and how things worked at the largest co-operative in the UK. Bringing us up to date, as online sales have had a disruptive effect on High Street trading.

Annual General Meeting

It is time for our Annual General Meeting. This will be held at 2 PM and then followed by the monthly meeting, details below.

How horses can educate us
Lynn Kirby will talk to us about her experiences of using horses as a way of aiding the
development of education and relationships in children, their teachers and parents. Her techniques continue to be effective in cases of social and learning difficulties.

Wild flowers in the Chilterns
Dr Brenda Harold has always been fascinated by plants. Studying plants at university, going on to
become a lecturer, and Deputy Head at Brunel University. Brenda lives locally, and so can speak with knowledge and experience on our local flora.

Slovenia - A Beautiful Balkan Secret with Nick Brazil
This little-known Balkan country only gained its independence in the 1990s after a short war.
Although quite a small country, it is rich in the beautiful scenery, architecture, and history. Included in this is one of the most beautiful Balkan cities – Ljubljana.
