Top of the greasy pole
Michael Brook started life shelving books in libraries around the country and ended his career as Chief Librarian. He has been a speaker for 11 years and has varied interests including amateur dramatics, cricket, and history.
His talk entitled "Top of the greasy pole" is an entertaining collection of anecdotes about many of our Prime Ministers, mainly from the 20th Century and earlier but stopping well short of current controversies!
It is a funny and light-hearted look at them as people. Find out which PM was “too big for his boots”? Which one was lethal with a shooting pistol? And which one might have invented the pub quiz!

Thank you for Scannappeal Donation
We have received a thank you email from Roy J Collis DL in £80.00 we raised for the Scannappeal for High Wycombe, and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals after his talk on the 11th December 2019
Dear Bob,
I enjoyed my visit to the Chalfonts branch of U3A on 11 December, and I would like to thank you and your members for the donation of £80.00.
As agreed I have passed this on to the local charity, Scannappeal, to support their fundraising for new state of the art MRI Scanners for High Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals.
They are trying to raise £1.5 million for these machines and every contribution is very welcome.
I hope that you and your members will have a very successful 2020.
Best regards,
Roy J Collis DL
