Dear Member,

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS

I am pleased to be able  to bring you some good news during this current lockdown and the torrid time being experienced by many people during this terrible Pandemic.

You may recall that at our AGM in the summer of 2020 it was agreed that the Committee would review our CU3A finances in January 2021 to see if it was possible to reduce 2021 subscriptions for existing members, in compensation for the lack of U3A group activities brought about by Pandemic restrictions.

I am delighted to tell you that your Committee and in particular, prudent financial management by our Treasurer, have determined that there will not be any renewal subscription required for existing (2020) members for 2021/22 membership

Further details will be sent out in due course giving details of membership card administration etc.

CU3A MONTHLY MEETINGS.

I am sorry to hear that some of our members were unable to log on to the Zoom Monthly Meeting yesterday, 13th January 2021. This was due to the fact we were oversubscribed and by the time we had reached 2pm we had reached our maximum number of participants.  Since the spring of 2020 when we started holding Monthly Meetings by video conferencing, our participant rate has always been below the maximum allowed by our licence. We normally attract between 40 - 85 participants per meeting. Yesterday was the first time the maximum number had been reached. As a consequence, some of our members were disappointed at not being able to enjoy the speaker that day.

Your Committee, in order to alleviate such a problem arising in the future, will purchase the next level of licence. This will cater for up to 500 participants. We will run this enhanced level as a 3 month trial period to evaluate attendance and future needs during Pandemic restrictions.

For those who are unable to attend the meeting on the day, it is our practice to record the meetings for the benefit of members to view at a later time. Please be aware that the decision to record is always governed by the agreement and consent of the speaker on the day.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all well.  Keep safe and out of harms way of this dreadful virus.

Thank you,

Bob Borwick

Chairman

CHALFONTS U3A
