Welcome to Chalfonts u3a
A message from our Chair, Jane Barker
A very warm welcome to our u3a and best wishes for a healthy and happy 2022. Thank you for visiting our website.
Chalfonts u3a is a member-led organisation that offers a wide range of interest and activity groups run by its members for its members. We are a group of retired and semi-retired people who want to continue sharing our educational, social and creative interests with other people in an informal and friendly environment. Our interest groups meet regularly and cover subjects from languages to science, walking to ballroom dancing, bridge to mah-jong, wine tasting to New Experiences and many more besides. We offer monthly members’ meetings with guest speakers (in-person and online) and a regular newsletter to all our members. There are also theatre outings and coach excursions to places of interest.
As I write, it appears there will be little let-up from the pandemic for the next few weeks at least. We will continue to run our groups and meetings in accordance with government guidelines and encourage everyone to take a lateral flow test before attending a meeting in person. At present, if you attend a meeting at the Chalfont St Peter Community Centre you will be required by law to wear a facemask (unless exempt). Please let your group convenor know if you have any concerns about meeting up in person so they can consider alternatives. Hopefully, things will begin to improve as spring arrives and we can look forward to better days ahead.
If you don’t feel ready to meet up in person at the moment, you can attend our monthly meeting via Zoom and sign up for some of the interesting online talks offered by the Thames Valley Network of u3a's. Details of these are circulated to members in advance.
To more cheery thoughts – we are planning a celebration day for our u3a on the afternoon of 5th April 2022 which will take place at The Hub in Chalfont St Peter. Our interest groups will be providing lots of information about what they do and it’s a great opportunity to explore which groups you might like to join and see the range of activities on offer. There will be live performances and demonstrations as well as lots of information available and people to talk to. It promises to be an engaging and entertaining afternoon. It will be free to come along so please put the date in your diary.
I am very proud to be the Chair of Chalfonts u3a and hope you will enjoy looking around our website and consider joining our organisation. Please do get in touch with me if there is anything you would like to share or ask me – email@example.com
