The u3a Movement
The u3a began in Britain in 1982. The Third Age Trust is the national representative body for u3a's in the UK and there are over 1000 u3a's in the UK with 440,000 members. Each u3a, including Chalfonts u3a, is an individual charity run by and for its members.
Membership of the u3a is open to all people who are no longer in full-time employment, irrespective of race, religion, or politics. The vision of the u3a is to give people access to Interest Groups and activities that are provided by the members for the members.
Chalfonts u3a
We are a charitable organisation run by Trustees(our Executive Committee), all of whom are volunteers and members of the Chalfonts u3a. The Trustees of Chalfonts u3a are elected annually by our members and form the Executive Committee which is responsible for managing its affairs in accordance with a Constitution approved by the Charity Commission.
Our History
We were formed in January 2015 and were granted full Trust status, meaning that we are recognised as a charity and we are now over 10 years old.
We now have members from all of the Chalfonts, Chalfont St Peter, Chalfont St Giles, Gerrards Cross, Seer Green, Little Chalfont, Jordans and other villages in the surrounding area.
